A Prayer for When Your Life Seems Overwhelming

By: - Pastor Stephanie Blackburn // Abiding In God’s Grace Ministries

“Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all His ways and to keep His commandments and to cling to Him and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” - Joshua 22:5 [KJV.]

Some days I look more like a chicken running around with its head cut off than a ‘Jesus Girl’. It’s so hard to keep that peaceful, serene, filled-with-the-Spirit personality when you’re trying to do five.. ten.. a million billion trillion things at once. Instead of feeling happy, love, joy, peace and contentment, I feel overwhelmed, tense, [heavy] over  laboured, heavily burdened, weary, stressed, weak, exhausted, drained, beat down and anxious.

You CANNOT Pour From An EMPTY Cup. You CANNOT Give NOR Fill People Up With What You DON’T [Already] Have.

Perhaps you can relate. You have so much to do and so much constantly going on and never-ending, that you can barely hold yourself together. You feel like a ticking time-bomb that could go off at any moment and like you're gonna burst at the seams. If you’re like me, you have more things on your list today than you could ever possibly accomplish. It’s hard to order your priorities when you have so many that you can’t even keep them straight. It’s also [almost] impossible to accomplish anything when you're too overwhelmed, discouraged, overly stressed, exhausted, drained, depleted and everything is outta wack and outta order. Chaos is NOT going to add to anything but making things more chaotic, harder and complex[ed].

We’re busy driving children to activities, sports and dealing with everything pertaining to school and our children’s education [etc..], working at our jobs, supporting aging and/or ill/ injured/ disabled [etc..] parents, trying to tend to and take care of and clean our homes, laundry, dishes, time with our families, time for prayer and time with The Lord our God, time for reading and studying God’s Word, Church and all church duties/ responsibilities/ activities/ obligations and commitments, time for our marriages, time for our spouses, time for our children, tending to our animals, communicating [communication] with everyone and trying to make dinner each [and every single] night. Trying to be and remain set apart for The Lord God Almighty and to NOT be a part of, NOR partake in this increasingly evil satanic world. The list is endless and never-ending. The list seems impossible to achieve and conquer. And we all know life never goes according to our plans, wants, demands and needs, etc..

So MANY different responsibilities can make it hard to order our steps. It can make it hard, difficult and darn right even [seemingly]  impossible to even begin. When we get overwhelmed, Scripture reminds us to return to simple priorities.

Joshua’s call to the Israelites happened after a busy season of battle; they must have been bone-weary when they’d finished the task of conquering Canaan. God was calling them to a season of rest, but Joshua wanted to remind them of their most important assignment: to observe and keep God’s commandment(s).

walk in his ways, inspirational image

What was that commandment? “To love the Lord your God, and to walk in all His ways and to keep His commandments and to cling to Him and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Joshua’s words point us to our main priorities as well.

Friend, if you feel overwhelmed by- life’s burdens and responsibilities, [by] this crazy.. corrupt.. chaotic and tyrannical system [socialism, communism and dictation satanism].. slaves to the globalist elites and world governments, [by] the beast system and new world order [NWO], [by] the globalist satanic elite’s nefarious inhumane evil ungodly satanic agendas and plans  [etc..]; then how about seeking a return to simpler living? Life becomes less complicated when we view success through the lens of loving and serving God each and every single day.

What If We Changed Our To-Do List?!?

So That It Read Like This:

  • Love God

  • Walk in His Ways

  • Keep His commandments

  • Put on and stay clothed in His armor

  • Read and study His word

  • Cling to Him

  • Be grounded and rooted in Him

  • Live for Him

  • Keep your eyes peeled and fixated on Him

  • Serve him with our heart, mind and soul

What could you do to unclutter your life [in any, every and all aspects, ways and areas] today? How would your day change for the better if you made it your primary goal to love and serve God both at work and at home?

                          Let’s pray:

 Lord,

Help me remember my primary purpose in life. O’ Lord help me to remember and know my calling in You, to daily seek it, and to live [it] according to it. Father, I want to seek You first and live for You and Your kingdom, living by Your ways and according to Your perfect will, but sometimes I end up so overwhelmed by my commitments and responsibilities [and even my own mind] that I forget [that] my true.. top.. main  and most important priority is to love YOU first. Forgive me Lord, please forgive me for letting other things [and people] get in the way of my relationship, walk and time with You. Help me [to] see my life [calling and purpose] through Your eyes and give me a sense of Your priorities for me, so I can follow Your design for [all] my [the] days [of my life]. O’Lord, please fill me [up] with Your Holy Spirit. Father, I ask in the Almighty Name of Yeshua Hamashiach Jesus Christ, to please give me an unquenchable thirst, hunger, longing and desire for You and Your word. Lord please give me a [soft, opened] heart to love Your word and a longing to obey it. Lord, I put my faith, trust, hope and strength all in You. Lord fill me with courage, boldness, wisdom, obedience, willpower, discernment and strength all in You and for Your glory. Lord I Pray that Your Will be done [on earth as it is in heaven], and I Pray that Your Word never returns back to You void. I Pray Father God that You please bless me to be a blessing to and for others [in Your Name and for Your Glory], and that You please help me to bring and lead all to You through Your only begotten Son Yeshua Hamashiach [Jesus Christ].

Lord, show me today what walking in Your ways and clinging to You looks like. Help me simplify my life, so that my main goal becomes loving You with my whole heart, soul, mind, strength and with every single fiber of my being.

In Jesus’ Almighty Name, I Pray and ask these things. Amen.

Love Always and God Bless Ya’ll,

                                   -Pastor Stephanie Blackburn
