SPIRITUAL NOURISHMENT FOR TODAY  #147: COLOSSIANS 3:12-14 KJV.



                             THE CHARACTER OF GOD'S ELECT:



As it was in the days of the early apostles, so it is even today in matters of spirituality.



Many people prefer to spend more time debating theology than living as God expects.



The Christians at Colosse were facing some serious challenges to their faith including : Judaism, Legalism, Asceticism, Ritualism, etc (often referred as the Colossian Heresy).



After warning them about these false philosophies, Paul explained to them the practical aspects of the Christian lifestyle.





It is wise for us who claim to be followers of Christ to heed Paul's advice.



1. All born again believers in Christ are described as the elect of God, holy and beloved.


2. As GOD'S elect (The True Church), we are instructed to put on a new set of spiritual clothes. In order to put on new clothing, we should first remove the old clothing. Should be common sense!


3. Here a few items of the New Clothes: Tender mercies, Kindness, Humility, Meekness, Longsuffering, Bearing with one another, Forgiving one another, and Loving one another.


4. What Paul is teaching here is absolutely foundational for Christians. The true evidence of salvation (which is by God's Grace) is not what we claim by word but by the new life in Christ, empowered by the indwelling power of The Holy Spirit.




Beloved in Christ, I urge you to HEED PAUL'S WARNINGS and COUNSEL.



Many people who claim to be followers of CHRIST are NOT ALIGNED WITH GOD'S WORD.



Authentic salvation must be evidenced by a new character - a spiritual transformation.



So, FOCUS MORE ON SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION - putting on the new clothing rather than than the futility of philosophy and theological debates.
